抗日战争爆发后，在南洋华侨领袖陈嘉庚的号召下，侨居海外的华人组成“南洋华侨技工队”，在滇缅公路上当司机、维修工，投身抗日救亡运动。电视剧《南侨机工英雄传》就以此为背景，讲述了青年归国华侨在滇缅公路上运输物资救国，以及生死相随的感人爱情故事。。二十世纪初期是西部的转型期，但著名的侦察员兼神枪手汤姆霍恩（史蒂夫．麦奎因饰）无视时代变迁，仍坚持个人的生存原则，以单枪匹马搜捕罪犯为生，最后被时代淘汰。本片根据汤姆．霍恩的自传改编，以冷峻手法表现一个没落西部英雄的形象，手法传统，故事清淡，但颇能捕捉到暴力与死亡的痛苦感觉。。After an alcohol induced blacked-out night of drinking, Teddy discovers he has severely beaten his wife, Molly.
